Equity vs. Efficiency and the Human Right to Water

One of the most crucial discussions within water resource management is debate between those who defend concept economic efficiency and privilege notions social equity. This tension located at core binary categories that currently constitute public comparative law policy. These are commodity/human right, private property/common property, free-market/state regulation, market value/community value. paper explores this by studying how neoclassical economics understands tracing its rise as a key hegemonic principle for management. I also present equity conceptual opposition to describe institutionalization through human-right-to-water frame. A problematization both approach frame follows. Finally, propose political ecology better understand offer recommendations informing research agenda on efficiency/equity.
